ENGINE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS PART NO 3941192 CONT GENERAL INFORMATION 1 When installing clutch housing transmission pilot bore alignment and face runout should be checked as specified in Chevrolet shop manual Also transfer inspection cover housing underpan underpan extension and clutch fork boot from replaced engine 2 The oil filler tube hole has been relocated on the 1966 inlet manifold When using this engine assem bly as a replacement on 1965 and prior models it is required to use items AL thru AP with the inlet manifold as provided with this engine assembly Also install hose connector into filler tube in order to reassemble hose to filler tube Install clamp 3 This engine assembly is used with a 2 barrel carburetor In order to adapt to 4 barrel or 4 speed usage various items require new purchase or transfer The difference is noted in the foregoing in structions and reference to other applications should be ignored 4 When using on Powerglide installation remove clutch pilot bushing 5 The intake manifold of this engine has a plugged 3 B tapped hole on the runner as a source of vac uum for power brakes If desired this source can be utilized on past models by purchasing and in stalling the following parts a 1 3817691 Hose support mount with existing rocker cover screw b 1 3888198 Elbow 3 B c 2 3829058 Hose Clamp d AR 3830662 11 32 LD Hose IMPORTANT When converting to the above vacuum source plug previous source of vacuum with suitable pipe plug 6 Models with optional equipment require transfer or replacement of engine parts special to such option 7 lf any number listed above is not shown in the current parts catalog check history section of the catalog for replacing part number 8 It may be necessary to relocate the accelerator pull back spring bracket in order to obtain proper tension I97O CHEVROLET MOTOR DIVISION GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATlON P A 3OA 74
